 WORKSHOP

SOUNDPAINTING AND IMAGINARY WORLD MUSIC
This workshop, hosted by the 4 instrumentalists Michelangelo4tet is intended for advanced musicians. It uses techniques of collective improvisation led (or without conductor), especially inspired by the language of gestures soundpainting Walter Thompson. It will allow the development of an intuitive approach leaving a large event as the musical personality to listen to each other and a better flow of energy between performers. Much attention will be given to the search for sound plasticity and control of acoustic resonance, while developing through fun technical substitution learning musical work roles of each instrument. We also work the polyryhmie drawing on techniques to the minimum or ethnic music, playing claves, the rhythmic phrasing, the cyclic shift on grooves in binary steps, ternary, odd. Restitution work around these three areas will be at the end of the workshop

WORKSHOP FOR STRINGS

The course, led by Karsten Hochapfel, is intended primarily for cellists, violinists, violists and bassists from a classical background and want to broaden their horizons. The program comes in two points:

Acquire skills to better find its place in a set of "new music" (jazz, pop, rock, funk or song): read a chord chart; groover make his instrument along the lines of bass, rhythm guitar or percussion; exploit the sonic palette of the instrument to produce sounds almost electric acoustic; learn the basics of improvisation over a chord chart or running low.

With the help of exemplary passages we discover certain characteristics of Balkan music, including Bulgarian music: compounds rhythms and polyphonic vocal music and the relationship between melody and harmony. We also offer a short excursion into the world of "maquam" non-tempered scales of oriental music.
